About Us

The East Sutton Community Youth Theatre (ESCYT) is a thriving, well established and happy organisation still serving many of the communities in the Weald of Kent. The Theatre provides a wide range of drama activities and is closely connected to the local schools. The aim has always been to nurture the children, so that they will increase their confidence, learn to develop their own talents, interact successfully with their colleagues and of course, have fun!  The main principle being "Theatre in Education", rather than preparation for "The Business" or a stage school.

The diversity of activities allows the children to sample the full benefits that drama brings:-

Drama Workshops

Held each week, in term time, after school and either in their own school hall or nearby village hall. Apart from the obvious listed above it gives the children an aesthetic activity to look forward to each week and encourages them to get away from the computer.

Theatre Visits

Visits to the major West End Shows in London, by coach on a 'group outing' basis. Apart from being a treat, it bonds individual classes together and increases children's interest in performing plays themselves.

Plays and musicals

Each class performs regularly a wide range of scripted plays and/or presentations of improvisations, songs and dance.

Summer Fun Camp at Goldwyn

Two weeks in August devoted to sports, art, craft, swimming, productions, talent competitions, discos - you name it! - with children attending all day, for a week. Hugely popular. To find out more visit our dedicated Summer Fun Camp site,  www.summerfuncamp.co.uk .

Community Activities

The children from ESCYT help to enrich local functions, fundraising events (Water pump for Uganda at Frittenden), Downswood and East Sutton Fetes, May Fair (Face Painting at Headcorn), Children's Xmas party. Please explore our website to find out more about us!
